An exclusive interview with the multi-talented art enthusiast Abu Skatar.
Pachagazine: Tell us about Abu Skatar?
Abu Skatar: Abu Skatar is a young man from Machakos but raised in Thika. A son in the kingdom of God and a Gospel minister.
Pachagazine: What first got you into music?
Abu Skatar:Nothing got me into music actually. I was born with Music my Dad and my Mum were singers so it came automatically.
Pachagazine: What else do you do apart from music?
Abu Skatar:I am a dance instructor,business man,a MC and also a Hype-man
Pachagazine: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Abu Skatar:I do bongo fused with a little bit of chakacha.
Pachagazine: Are you signed under any musical label or you work alone?
Abu Skatar:Am not signed under any music label but still am not working alone
Pachagazine: Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Abu Skatar:Not yet decided but God’s will will always prevail
Pachagazine: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
Abu Skatar:Am running a dance academy called THE MESSENGERS DANCE ACADEMY so if at all I wasn’t doing music then the academy would have been keeping me active.
Pachagazine: Where have you performed? What is your favourite and least favourite venues?
Abu Skatar:I have performed a lot of places but the favorite place was at NBC HQ Kiambu.
Pachagazine: What is your favourite song to perform?
Abu Skatar:I have a good number but SUBIRA is my best of all times.
Pachagazine: If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Abu Skatar:That would be about content creation,,we should build an atmosphere that people can expect to learn,to be motivated,to be inspired by us.
Pachagazine: What do you enjoy most about being a musician? What do you hate most?
Abu Skatar:I love talking to God as son does to his father.So mostly my music is related to the relationship I have with God.
Pachagazine: How would you advice someone who aspires to follow your footsteps?
Abu Skatar:Don’t follow me I can fall.Follow Christ he is the same yesterday today and forever more HE WILL NEVER CHANGE
Pachagazine: What’s next for you?
Abu Skatar:I have a lot of projects coming so people should be expectant.
I have a new release a song called USIYE BADILIKA. This is a song written under a great influence of encounter.
Creation will keep on changing, disappointing, failing but God has never and will never CHANGE. The same Yesterday, Today and Forever more
