Kennedy Gakere commonly and professionally referred to as

MAKE I AM alias (MIA) is an Artist (rapper /singer, song writer, performing artist) and a Teacher.

Make I Am was born and grew up in Central Kenya.

What or who inspired you in to music?

MIA

Before music, I was into runways and High fashion and all that was about winning and glory, but first time putting my thoughts on paper felt extremely profound.

I found my niche in the music and every song brought a sense of belonging something I had been yearning for years. plus I had a taste for good music so it was nice knowing that people categorized mine as good music too.

Why hip pop?

Let me set this one straight, am not just a rapper, am a creative. I put nice melodies together, I can go hard on bars too and I can also be soft spoken at times. So I have fused Hip hop which happens to be my favorite genre.

With music I have grown fond of over the years, RNB, SOFT ROCK AND POP.

Hip Hop to me is poetic expression of life. it’s a global culture.

How would you describe your journey to where you are now?

It has been a recollection of moments, highs and lows which has ultimately cut me into a finer version of my self. we learn everyday and I feel wiser now.

Both luck and bad luck have come a long way to making me a powerful writer and performer.

Who would you most probably want to collaborate with in the future?

I am a big fun of NIKITA KERING.

Internationally my bucket list looks like, NASTY_C, BURNA BOY, SAUTI SOUL, NYASHINSKI, KHALID, ANYONE, J. COLE ETC

You have been in several performances, which venue would you term as the best venue to perform on stage?

it’s definitely the INDUSTRY NITE hosted by kwambox, at Prevee Westlands Nairobi where I performed alongside a whole parade of super stars. Naiboi, Chiwawa, Kristoff, Gabu, femi one, Rankadar… that was amazing.

What do you think about the competition in local hip pop music industry and the fan base?

Ain’t no competition, from my point of view we are trying but real hip hop to me is Revolutionary and almost everybody out is just flexing. Am looking to change that. Am the Kendrick in this game.

What else do you do apart from music music?

I am high-school teacher, I do a little bit of business, and a little bit of farming too.

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

I guess we will never know because this is where am supposed to be right now.

Do you have any upcoming project?

A lot of new projects, a load of them. Good vibes only.
