Pachagazine: What’s your stage name?
Teflon: I go by the name Teflon aka Pappi Carlito, but my real names are Abdul Naseer.
Teflon actually is a name that I was given by my close friend and actually Teflon can be broken down to
T – Trust
E- Effort
F – Faith
L – Love
O – Optimistic
N – nature
Pachagazine: When did you start your musical journey?
Teflon: Musical journey for me started back in primary where I used to rap in a matatu back in 2013, since then it’s been music.
Pachagazine: Which genre do you do?
Teflon: Am a Hip-hop artist.
Pachagazine: What drew you to do Hip-hop? Why Hip-hop?
Teflon: I used to board this matatus which used to play music, most of the music that was being played was hip-hop nkaanza kujifundisha rap za Lil Wayne until now I write my own, hivyo ndo iliingia kwa damu.
Pachagazine: Who inspired you to make music?
Teflon: I would say, there is this internal drive that keeps me motivated and asking for more.
But for artists, International I look up to Meek Mill, then here in Kenya, Nyashinski.
Pachagazine: Tell us what’s your biggest challenge you are facing in your career right now.
Teflon: Right now, the biggest challenge is support.
Pachagazine: Are you under any label?
Teflon: Not yet, am not under any.
Pachagazine: So, music is it what you do fulltime or there’s something else that you do.
Teflon: I do music full time, I found something to live for, music is life.
Pachagazine: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t music?
Teflon: (laughs) a footballer or maybe even a Chef.
Pachagazine: Tell us about your projects, take us through one.
Teflon: The song inaitwa Party, it speaks about all the hustling a person goes through then later it’s party time. And that’s my latest project.
Pachagazine: Any collaborations you’ve done?
Teflon: Yeah done some but not with known names yet.
(laughs) I did a despacito cover with Gold Kelly, I did two hip-hop songs with Tuchii Small, and I have a track with Brother Hood Nation.
Pachagazine: Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Teflon: I would love to collaborate with Country Wizzy.
Pachagazine: How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
Teflon: Actually, I feel internet is one of the essential needs a musician would need, It’s the best way to reach out to people you don’t know off, and best platform to sell out our work.
Pachagazine: What do you enjoy most about being a musician? What do you hate most?
Teflon: What I enjoy is when people see you for the first time but they’ve heard your songs before, that smile on their faces is really enjoyable.
What I hate is the mentality some of these women have when it comes to dating artists.
Pachagazine: So where do you see yourself in few years to come. What should your fans expect in the near future?
Teflon: In the near future I want them to be ready to see a whole new Teflon, New music type, collaborations.
Am working on finishing up 2k Bars album. So much installed for them.
Pachagazine: Message to your fans concerning this pandemic we’re facing!
Teflon: Yeah, we all have to stay safe; I know as youths we always going to rebell but chenye government inafanya is for our own good, mafans wangu wote uko inje nawapenda sana.
