An exlusive interview with Billy Flashlight on PACHAGAZINE ‘The pulse Vaccine’

Billy Flashlights: I’m Billy Flashlights.

Pachagazine: Enlighten us about that name.

Billy Flashlights: Well, Billy came from my favourite artists father, Billy Ray Cyrus. I have been a big fan of Miley Cyrus since I was a kid, while Flashlights is my identity and label. It means shedding light.

Pachagazine: When did your start your journey.

Billy Flashlights: I loved music since I was 7 years but professionally started of in 2013. It’s when I recorded my first song ‘Coming Through‘.

Pachagazine: Which genre of music do you do?

Billy Flashlights: I am into Hip-hop and Trap. Also slowly working on Soft Rock and Hard Rap.

Pachagazine: What made you do hip-hop/trap, why that genre?

Billy Flashlights: I think it’s because I flow best when rapping plus most of those songs have inspiration in them.

Pachagazine: Speaking about inspiring, who inspires you ?

Billy Flashlights: I always look up to Kanye West, He’s just an inspiration not forgetting here in +254 Octopizzo, he does play that role too, I love he’s work.

Pachagazine: Do you do music as full-time?

Billy Flashlights: It’s a part time thing.

Pachagazine: So far how many projects do you have, you can take us through one,

Billy Flashlights: I got five projects, two solos and collabos.

Coming through is my favourite.

Pachagazine: Tell us a little bit about ‘Coming Through’.

Billy Flashlights: The song talks about the journey to stardom; how hard it is but we finally make it through the struggles.

Pachagazine: Are you under any label?

Billy Flashlights: No am an independent artist.

Pachagazine: How do you make your music unique to fit the competitive market?

Billy Flashlights: I keep it real on what’s happening in the community. I think Real is everything, just being Me is all I need, no copy pasting.

Pachagazine: Any collaborations?

Billy Flashlights: Yeah and am working on some tracks with a few fellow artists.

Pachagazine: What should your fans expect in the near future?

Billy Flashlights: Amazing music professionally produced and mastered, also more of something different from the norm.

Pachagazine: So where do you see yourself in few years to come?

Billy Flashlights: I will have grown musically as I tend to get better day by day.

Pachagazine: About challenges! What challenges do you come across with in your career?

Billy Flashlights: Main challenge ni market, Pesa ya studio, kukosa network na competition from foreign artists. Shows pia hatulipui and another thing Kenyans don’t buy their own product.
